World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) - Bonobos Bonobos are found only in the Congo Basin rainforests of central Democratic Republic of Congo. They are under threat from bush meat hunters, and their habitat is diminishing. Although they occur in the Salonga National Park, a World Heritage Site, the park has been invaded by heavily armed gangs of poachers, and conservation efforts have been hampered by the civil unrest prevailing in the region.
